The countdown has begun to MJ, the new musical framed around the life and music of Michael Jackson, debuting on Broadway this summer. In advance of the upcoming world premiere, the production has offered up a first look at the scenic design of Tony winner Derek McLane. "The majority of the story is set inside a spacious, industrial dance rehearsal studio, but throughout the musical we find ourselves repeatedly transported into Michael's mind—his memories and his dreams," said McLane in a statement. "The alternating between dream sequences and reality gives us the chance to repeatedly surprise the audience." Gaze at the design layout for the new tuner and then mark your calendar: MJ begins previews on July 6 and opens on August 13 at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre.
